The Joan Brossa Foundation was established on 20 October 1999 with the aim of promoting, preserving and disseminating the poet’s work. Foremost among the aims of the Foundation are organising and classifying his work, fostering activities designed to disseminate and enhance the knowledge of Catalan culture, and awarding prizes, grants and subsidies for research and educational projects. This project finds its origins in Brossa’s last will and testament, in which he bequeathed his belongings to the Foundation, which was to be created in his name, and to which he appointed Pepa Llopis, his spouse, as president.
